For parents of children in Years 4 to 6 at Mount Pleasant Primary School
Getting Ready for KS2 SATS English
Free, weekly two hour sessions. Learn about grammar, reading and writing techniques for SATS tests.
Course runs Mondays, 9th Jan – 13th Feb, 9.05am – 10.50am

Family Numeracy – Keeping up with the Kids
Course runs over 5 weeks on Thursdays from 9.30a.m to 11.30 a.m
14th April 2016 – 12th May 2016
This course introduces parents/carers to the new methods of teaching maths in Primary schools. The joint session uses activities to encourage development in the curriculum areas of number, measurement, geometry, statistics, ratio and proportion. This course incorporates information about changes to curriculum from September 2014. Progression onto Functional Skills maths course for adult learners is encouraged.
Getting Ready for School: Great for parents with children aged 3 – 5
Course runs on Thursdays for 5 weeks from 9.15a.m to 11.15a.m
Thursday 9th June to Thursday 7th July
This course looks at each element of the EYFS curriculum and suggests ways that parents/carers can help to support their child’s development in Nursery and Reception. There is an emphasis on the importance of speaking and listening skills and their role in future learning, especially phonics and reading.
Family Art or Craft
Course runs on Thursdays for 5 weeks from 1pm to 3pm
Thursday 9th June to Thursday 7th July
These popular courses encourage creativity and collaborative working and can result in a finished piece of work. Art and craft techniques are taught and resources will be supplied. This gives parents a chance to share an enjoyable creative experience with their children.
