Aspirations Day
The Children had a fabulous afternoon of interactive activities, science experiments, role playing and inspirational talks from professionals from our community; all were invited to encourage the children to THINK BIG, AIM HIGH and ACHIEVE’.

All Year groups were involved in the activities of the day and the children were enthralled with all of them. Staff from Lawrence Batley Theatre attended and the children loved drawing their own sleeping beauty and dressing up in pantomime costumes.
Aleena Irfan, Year 3, said “I enjoyed learning about things people do in theatres behind the scenes and the costumes are cool!”
Switalski’s Solicitors did a mock trial ‘The Trial of Goldilocks’; Community Police Officers showed a video and the children got to handle equipment such as handcuffs and radio, and Red Watch from Huddersfield Fire and Rescue Service attended with their engine and fire-fighting equipment. Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service got the children involved in role playing and told them all about their service.
Muhammad Sahil, 1C said incredulously “They work 365 days a year!”
Yorkshire Bank staff attended and gave talks to pupils, as well as a drop-in session for staff financial wellbeing. Children were visited by dentist Dr Sohaib Nisar, midwife Chloe Longden, Greenhead Co
llege Science Teacher Usman Anwar, Medicare Pharmacist Malak Shahein, Clinical Psychologist Dr Manreesh Bains, NHS Project Manager Murray Forrest, Regional Charity Co-ordinator Geoffrey Render, and Huddersfield University Students Naomi Pearson, Mohammad Abu-Bakr, Matthew Goring and Isabel Gatenby.
Aaminah Khan, Year 6 said “Aspirations day was amazing!
We had visitors coming to our school who all had unique jobs and inspired me to start thinking about the career I want to pursue in the future”.
